I love crayons. So many colors! The only problem is, I hold things in my hands so hard that I was/am constantly breaking crayons. Which is why I love these little crayon pieces that look like stones!

Between birthdays/holidays/babies/weddings, I often find myself sticking a check in the mail to one of my friends for a group gift/party/flower-sending. Occasions like these don't really require a long letter, but it also seems like a shame to use an ugly security envelope and just slap on the address. So I went searching for prettier ways to mail a letter!

Other Color of the Year - Plummy Merlot

If Honeysuckle Pink isn't for you, not to worry. I love this other color that is making appearances everywhere... Paper Source debuted it as a brand new color, Fig. And Benjamin Moore named it Color of the Year, under the name Vintage Wine. I'm calling it Plummy Merlot, and I love it because it goes with everything! Beautiful and rich on it's own, it also makes brights like yellow, turquoise, and orange really pop. Or pair it with black & silver for an sophisticated, elegant look. This color is gorgeous and so versatile!

I Heart my new calendar!

So, I finally decided on a new calendar for the new year, and when it arrived in the mail yesterday, I was ecstatic! I LOVE this calendar! First, it hangs by magnet, so I can keep it on the side of my fridge. It came with a pen AND pen-holder, which solves the problem of having your calendar on the fridge and not by a desk. It also has nice little slots on bottom for storing business cards, to-do lists, reminders, etc. Oh, and it's lovely to look at. Functional but not busy; pretty but not too girly.

I got the Do-It-All version, but the Organizing Essentials (with post-its instead of stickers & folders) was tempting, too. I had a great experience ordering from Calendars.com -- see all their Pocket Calendars here!

New Year, New Color!

Pantone's color of the year for 2010 was a great, bright turquoise. I loved playing with different color combinations using this color (red + turquoise was one of my faves of the year!). As fond as I have grown for turquoise, a new year brings new color opportunities! Introducing Pantone's 2011 Color of the year:

According to Pantone Color Institute Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman, “In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues.” Eiseman notes that Honeysuckle may also “bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer.” (read more from Pantone)

I have always been a big fan of Pink, so I am excited to use this "dynamic reddish pink" in my designs this year. I love that it's not too light, or too dark, or too purple-ish. Just bright & bold! The green of the leaves in the pic above really pops against the pink....I wonder what other colors will compliment this beauty!?!

Of course, I love when couples take a leap and do a non-traditional, personalized wedding invitations. And I LOVE the colors & graphics of this wedding suite. But I really love the concept....I am of the age that mix tapes were a huge part of my youth! True story: I received a mix tape from an admirer with a corresponding love note (ex: "I feel like I'm Losing My Religion when I think of you standing in the November Rain").

Anyway....I think the concept & execution of this set is stellar. Don't you want to meet this couple? And this designer?!

I have about 5 list-making iPod touch aps, I have an email calendar that can be blocked off minute-by-minute...but every single day, I take my colored Sharpies and my legal pad, and write out my To-Do list. Mr CPaperie makes fun of me, because I have to re-write the things that didn't get done, and I still write the projects I never have time to do but would love to get to someday (also, he has an annoyingly photographic memory and rarely writes down anything).

This article proves I'm not the only one writing things down, and makes a case for the old-fashioned way.

And, if you're anything like me, you'll love these various list-making tools! They come in this lovely turquoise, as well as orange or gray.

These to-do lines peel off as stickers! Now I can really organize!

Playing on Polyvore again....I am starting to love turqoise and orange together!

This color combo would be great for party invitations - it's so festive & fun!

I was also pleased how well this nuetral one came out....a very soft pallet, but still several colors to pull from. I can see this color pallet being used for elegant wedding invitations, or even Happy New Year cards...

I remember hiking in Lost Maples state park with my family, with gorgeous trees and falling leaves. You could pick up some LARGE leaves in that park! And then get out your trusty crayons and make leaf rubbings! I am tempted to try this simple activity today....a little nature, a little crayon, a little craft time - ahhh, Fall is good.

I know this is 2 posts in a row about Christmas Cards...and it's still September. But they're already out there and calling to me! I found a variety of not-run-of-the-mill cards & photo cards at Pear Tree Greetings. These all have an interesting shape or assembly. I love the interactive element of sliding the greeting out of the mitten! Opening any of these cards would feel like opening a present. Kudos, Pear Tree!

I have been researching and designing Christmas cards for over a month now, so it seems like the holidays are right around the corner! Thankfully, we all have plenty of time to select and send out holiday cards :) And now one of my favorite shops, Paper Source, has designed their own line of photo cards. Playing with Color...

I do alot of design in 2-color pallets, and although there are several go-to combinations that I love, I have started getting tired of all the "trendy" color sets. Yes, brown and light blue look really really good together, but I can't use them anymore! ;) So, I have decided to play with some new combinations...or in this case, an oldie-but-goodie. Purple & Yellow are complimentary (they are opposite of each other on the color wheel -- purple is made by mixing red & blue, and red, blue & yellow are the primary colors) so they naturally look great together. Even though yellow and purple have been trendy colors lately, I don't see them together very much. Here is my experiment in Purple & Yellow! Feel free to suggest other color combos that are inspiring to you!

Minted.com just opened up space for Wedding Invitation inspiration boards -- showing how the different elements of the event could tie-in/reflect the invitation (and vice versa). They are really beautiful. And inspiring :)
